GPS walk with short films
1629: The siege of 's-Hertogenbosch
You walk past places where the story of the siege comes back to life. Along the route, short films open automatically when you arrive at a point. Allow location access if your phone asks for it. This walk is ideal for local residents who want to know their city better and for visitors who want to see more than the familiar streets in about two hours.
You can change this later during the route as well.
What happened in 1629?
In 1629, 's-Hertogenbosch was besieged for months by the Dutch States army led by Prince Frederick Henry. The city was strongly defended and protected by water, walls and fortifications.
Through clever engineering, dikes and drainage, the city came under increasing pressure. Eventually 's-Hertogenbosch surrendered. This walk lets you feel on location how close that past still is.

How does it work?
At the starting point, press Start. The map then follows your position and shows the route points. When you enter the set zone around a point, the film fragment for that place opens automatically.
The walk is designed to be experienced calmly. Pause when a film begins, look around, and then continue to the next point.
Tips along the way
A few small preparations make the walk easier. Make sure your phone has enough battery. Location is often already enabled by apps such as Google Maps; only give this website permission if your phone asks for it. Earbuds or headphones help you hear the films clearly outside.
The film fragments work best with clear sound.
This helps you follow the stories calmly, even in busier places.
Preferably watch the films horizontally. The image is larger and calmer.
Stand still during videos and stay alert to traffic and other walkers.
